MSA for Adults (5)

By the end of As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum – Course 5, learners will be able to:

1. Understand the main ideas and important supporting details in conversations, reports, interviews, and recorded texts on cultural and contemporary topics.
2. Participate in extended Arabic conversations by describing events, explaining processes, asking follow-up questions, comparing viewpoints, and expressing opinions.
3. Read and interpret intermediate informational and cultural texts related to religion, history, agriculture, technology, energy, disasters, and the environment.
4. Use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary, collocations, idiomatic expressions, and Arabic proverbs accurately in speech and writing.
5. Conjugate and use hollow, defective, assimilated, and doubled verbs appropriately in the past, present, imperative, and verbal-noun forms.
6. Apply major grammatical structures accurately, including the indicative, subjunctive, and jussive present tense, the five verbs, the five nouns, the dual, the sound masculine plural, and diptotes.
7. Produce organized reports, administrative letters, summaries, and reflective compositions using suitable introductions, supporting information, conclusions, and recommendations.
8. Use punctuation, cohesive devices, and paragraph organization to produce clear and logically connected Arabic writing.
9. Analyze and discuss cultural, historical, technological, and environmental issues, while comparing perspectives from the Arab world with those of the learner’s own society.
10. Locate, evaluate, summarize, and present information from digital, audio, visual, and written sources with increasing independence and confidence.
