MSA for Adults (6)

By the end of Course 6, students will be able to:

1. Use a broad range of thematic vocabulary and expressions related to society, family, literature, politics, international relations, security, health, media, and social change.
2. Participate in extended conversations and discussions, explaining opinions, giving reasons, comparing viewpoints, and responding appropriately to others.
3. Understand spoken Arabic from dialogues, reports, interviews, and informational texts, identifying main ideas, supporting details, arguments, and viewpoints.
4. Read and interpret a variety of Arabic texts, including social and cultural articles, literary selections, biographies, political texts, and contemporary media materials.
5. Apply increasingly complex Arabic morphology, including quadriliteral verb patterns, active and passive participles, nouns of place and time, instrument nouns, and intensive forms.
6. Use major grammatical structures accurately, including كان وأخواتها, إنّ وأخواتها, كاد وأخواتها, الحال, conditional structures, passive constructions, and exception with إلا، غير، سوى.
7. Improve Arabic spelling and orthographic accuracy, particularly the different forms of the hamza and selected rules involving deletion of letters.
8. Produce organized written Arabic, including descriptive paragraphs, comparisons, summaries, opinion pieces, problem–solution writing, and short research-based texts.
9. Demonstrate greater knowledge of Arab and Islamic culture, while comparing cultural practices and perspectives with those of other societies.
10. Research, evaluate, and present information in Arabic, especially on contemporary social and political issues, while distinguishing different perspectives and supporting opinions with evidence.
