How to Assign an Assessment to a Class
Instructors can also set assessments for their class through the same Classwork flow used for assignments. Here's how.
Step 1: Log In as an Instructor
Sign in with your instructor account. In the side panel, click Classes.
Step 2: Choose Your Class
If you teach multiple classes, you'll see a card for each one. Select the class you want, then click Open Class.
Step 3: Go to the Classwork Tab
Inside the class, click the Classwork tab.
Step 4: Click "Set Work"
On the right side of the page, click the Set Work button.
Step 5: Select "Assessment"
Under What are you setting?, choose Assessment instead of Assignment.
Step 6: Choose the Assessment
Click the Choose an assessment dropdown to select one. You can pick from assessments already tied to the course on the platform, or one you've created yourself (covered in a separate tutorial).
Step 7: Set a Due Date (Optional)
Add a due date if needed, or leave it blank.
Step 8: Post to Class
Click Post to Class to publish the assessment to your students.
Once posted, the classwork list will show a summary for the assessment, including how many students it's assigned to, how many have been graded, and how many are still pending.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between assigning an assignment and an assessment? The setup process is the same, but assessments are typically used for formal testing and grading, while assignments cover general coursework.
Can I assign an assessment I created myself? Yes, as long as you've already created it. See our separate guide on creating your own assessments for details.
Can I see how many students have completed the assessment? Yes, the classwork entry shows how many students are assigned, graded, awaiting review, or haven't handed it in yet.
